How to fix a broken link in WordPress

    A broken link is an improper URL entered by a website owner that no longer exists. When a website owner deletes a linked page or changes a URL address without properly updating the URL, a broken link will be created. In a layman's tongue, a broken link is a URL that redirects to a page with 404 error notification.

    In this article, we are going to take a good look at how we can fix a broken link in WordPress. As we all know, over 25% of websites uses WordPress platform including this particular site, so lets get started.

    How to fix a broken link in WordPress
    First and foremost, download You must be registered to see links and activate. You can check out our step-by-step article on how to install plugins on WordPress. Upon activation, a sub-menu will be created under the Dashboard>>Tools>>Broken Links.

    Now, you should see a number after the Broken Links written in red. The numbers indicate how many broken links your site currently has. Right now, I can simply state that this site has 39 broken links that still needs a fix.You must be registered to see links

    Kindly go to Dashboard>>Tools>>Broken Links, and you will see all the broken links on you site at the moment. Underneath each URL in the table, there are options there e.g Edit URL, Unlink, Not broken, Dismiss and Recheck. These options gives you the freedom to edit the URL of the site or even unlink the URL. If you find out that the URL is of use to you, you can simply hit Not broken or Dismiss, but if you feel that the link still works, you can hit Recheck.

    Furthermore, you can check through the source, simply by going to Source underneath the table column and choose from the list of options there. These options include, Edit, Trash and View, if you like, you can edit the post and remove the broken link from the source or you can delete the post.

    This is a way to fix broken links in WordPress, unfortunately it is not available for those who use Blogger platform. Broken links can spoil a site's SEO, so, for those using Blogger, you can always check if your site has a broken link with this website - You must be registered to see links
